What Kind of Board Game Night Player Are You?

Rating: one star out of five. Attended a board game night at my friend Dana's apartment. Was promised a relaxing evening. Within twenty minutes, Mark had read the entire rulebook aloud, including the paragraph about what happens if a card falls off the table. Priya built hotels on every property and refused all requests for mercy. Dana kept refilling the guacamole and lost every round with an enormous smile. Josh invented a rule involving the dog. Will be attending again next Thursday.

That's the funny thing about game night. The cardboard and plastic barely matter. What matters is who shows up around the table and what kind of player each person becomes once the dice start rolling. Some guard the rules like a judge in a robe. Some play like they're running a hostile corporation. Some are mostly there for snacks and good company, and some exist purely to cause delightful chaos.

Fifteen questions about Monopoly tokens, losing faces, cheating accusations and snack choices will settle the matter. No rulebook needed, though someone will probably bring one anyway. Grab a seat, shuffle the deck and take the quiz to find out which player you are.
