What Kind of Tourist Are You?
Unpopular opinion: the most annoying kind of tourist is the one who insists they aren't a tourist. You know the type. Refuses the map, orders in a language they learned on an app last Tuesday, and calls the hotel breakfast inauthentic while eating their third croissant.
Here's the defence. Everybody becomes a tourist the second they ask where the bathroom is. The person with the laminated itinerary is a tourist. So is the one buying a fridge magnet for every coworker, and so is the one who flew nine hours to lie beside a pool that looks exactly like the pool at home. That's fine. Travel is mostly walking, snacking and getting slightly lost, and everyone does it a little differently.
The real question is how you do it. Maybe you're The Itinerary General, with museum entry times booked before the flights. Maybe you're The Fake Local, still pretending. Or you're The Poolside Loyalist, who considers the hotel lobby an excursion.
Take the quiz, own your result, and the next time someone asks if you're on vacation, just say yes.
