Terms and Conditions of Captaincy, version 4.2. By accepting the armband, the Captain agrees to arrive first, leave last and remember everyone's birthday, including the backup goalkeeper's. The Captain shall give one motivational speech per match, not to exceed four minutes, unless it is raining, in which case it may not exceed two. The Captain accepts full responsibility for the team snack schedule. Refunds are not available.

Clause seven states that no two captains lead the same way, and our legal department has confirmed it after watching a lot of youth sports. Some captains are pure noise and adrenaline, clapping so hard during warmups that the other team gets nervous. Some carry a notebook full of diagrams and quietly know the opponent's weaknesses better than the opponent. Some barely speak and lead by working harder than everyone else, which is very annoying for the people who wanted a nap. And some show up with plasters, oranges and a spare sock for everyone.
